Methodist Church Hall, Teddington
Why not come and join us for a fun and relaxing Sunday afternoon of textile crafting?
Wet felting is based on an ancient craft, now given a modern twist to create a variety of products from bags and hats to jewellery and artworks.
Learn the basics by creating a beautiful and unique bag using wool roving or combed wool fibres. You will explore various techniques such as shaping, using resists and how to add silk fibres and yarns for design effect. Using just water, a little soap and lots of rubbing and agitation, watch the wool fibres transform magically into your own statement handbag.
All materials and equipment will be supplied, together with tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
This workshop is suitable for both total beginners and those with a little experience of wet felting.
The class will be led by Suzanne Strachan, experienced felt maker and designer and Catherine from Handmade Workshops.
Please bring with you two hand towels and an apron. You might also like to bring some inspirational design images and scraps of silk fabric or decorative yarn you would like to incorporate into your work.
“Fantastic way to learn a new skill. Local, friendly and good fun”
