Sat 11th May 2019
1 – 5pm
The Warehouse, Hampton Wick
Wet felting is based on an ancient craft with a modern twist. Learn the basics by creating a decorative picture using wool roving or combed wool fibres. You will explore various techniques such as using pre-felts, silk fibres, yarns and scraps of chiffon and silk fabrics for design effects. Using just water, a little soap and lots of rubbing and agitation, watch the wool fibres transform magically into your own piece of textile art.
All materials and equipment will be supplied. If you have a particular colour scheme in mind, please let us know two weeks before the workshop, so we can accommodate this. You are welcome to bring along your own inspirational images and we’ll provide the tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
This workshop is suitable for those with little or no experience in wet felting.
The class will be led by Suzanne Strachan, experienced felt maker and designer.
What to bring:
2 hand towels
Any scraps of silk fabric or decorative yarn you would like to use.
