Introduction to Papercutting

Sat 30th Oct 2021
2 – 5pm

United Response, Teddington

Come and treat yourself to a wonderfully relaxing and informative afternoon of paper crafting.

During the session, local artist, paper cutter and print maker Gill Smith will teach you all the skills needed to start you on your paper cutting adventures. By the end of the session you’ll have created 2 beautiful artworks using different paper cutting skills.

Starting with some practice exercises to teach you how to safely cut paper, you’ll then move on to a simple layered geometric artwork using triangular cuts, before then progressing on to making the fabulous rooster.

The class is suitable for both total beginners and those with a little prior experience of paper cutting.

We’ll provide all the materials and tools for you to use during the workshop and Gill will also have some mounts to fit the artworks, should you wish to purchase one on the day. If you do have your own scalpel, metal ruler and cutting mat, you might like to bring them along to use.

We’ll also give you lots of tea, coffee and homemade cake.

In the event that the class is unable to go ahead due to the ongoing covid-19 virus situation, we will of course offer all participants the option of an alternative date or refund.
